First Aid

Front Office staff provide first aid and can supervise and assist with the taking of medication prescribed by a medical practitioner if a request is made in writing.  If injury or sickness requires medical attention we notify parents as soon as possible (please ensure that we have up-to-date contact numbers).  Ambulance attendance and transport, if required, is free to ACT school students within the ACT.

Please don’t send sick children to school - we have limited facilities to make them comfortable, and contagious illnesses spread quickly in schools.

Fruit and Drink break

At 10:00am teachers encourage students to eat a healthy snack: fruit and or a drink of water.
This ensures children are able to concentrate for the full two hours of literacy block.

Fundamental Motor Skills

Latham’s Fundamental Motor Skills program provides students with the opportunity to develop skills such as hopping, jumping, skipping, kicking, throwing, catching and striking. Most skills in sports and movement activities are advanced versions of Fundamental Motor Skills For example: throwing in softball and cricket, the baseball pitch, javelin throw and tennis serve are all advanced forms of the overhand throw. The development of students’ Fundamental Motor Skills through quality physical education promotes lifelong participation in sport and other physical activities.
