Celebrating 3 years of Fresh Tastes at Latham Primary School

Celebrating Frest Tastes at Latham Primary

On Monday this week we hosted a special event; a celebration of 3 years of involvement with the Fresh Tastes program. Latham was one of 8 schools who began the program in 2014, and Monday brought representatives from those schools, the Minister for Education and Early Childhood Development, Yvette Berry, and the Minister for Health Ms Meegan Fitzharris and special invited guests to our school to celebrate. A very special thanks to our wonderful Student Leadership Team who welcomed guests, accepted our certificate and beautiful vertical garden, and served food, all with charming manners and welcoming smiles. Thank you also to our staff; Evan our Fresh Tastes coordinator who prepared a static display and spoke to media, Peter who ran all the IT for the event, and to Hayden and Manuel who made sure the school was looking beautiful. Also we want to particularly acknowledge the outstanding contribution of Michelle our canteen manager who planned the menu and prepared all the ‘green food’ to be served – it was delicious! But no greater praise than that of the students who said (as they served) that the food was soooo good. Michelle has really taken the Fresh Tastes messages on board over the last 3 years, so that now our canteen menu gets a big tick from Nutrition Australia for its healthy menu. Well done.
